Blue Blaze Brewing: Trail Magic Weekend

Friday, March 29th

Carver's Gap, Roan Mountain
527 TN-143
2:00pm - 5:00pm

UPDATE: This event is currently full! If availability opens up, we will be sure to post here. Still want to help out? Please see our Go Fund Me link in this event description, or email hnisbett@blueblazebrewing.com for items you can donate for hikers.

Thru hiking season is upon us! As you are reading this, thousands of hopeful hikers are packing their packs, taping their blisters, shoving their pockets full of candy bars and heading off on the adventure of a lifetime along the Appalachian Trail. As the northbound bubble starts on their quest for Mount Katahdin from Georgia, Trail Angels everywhere are preparing to lend a helping hand wherever they can. Here at Blue Blaze Brewing, we want to show our support to these adventurous souls, and we would like to invite you to join us! Trail Magic are random acts of kindness one gives to thru hikers on the trail.

We will be heading up to Carvers Gap, TN (Car Lot at AT Crossing and intersection of NC-216 & State Rd 1348, about 3 hr drive from Charlotte) where the AT crosses through the breathtaking Roan Highlands, with coolers of refreshing beverages, calories and provisions, and the expectation of having a great time with a bunch of smelly hikers. We will be spending two nights on the trail within close vicinity of the Carvers Gap parking lot, cheering and greeting the thru hikers as they pass through. The hiking there is easy to moderate.  If you are interested in joining us during this Trail Magic weekend, we would love to have you! In order to keep from congesting the trail too much, we will be limiting participation to 15 Trail Angels. Please be prepared to provide your own transportation to and from the trail and you are welcome to either tent camp or car camp at Carvers Gap with us. We will try our best to keep all our tents together in the same location but, since camping is first come first served, we won’t know exactly how tents will be arranged until we get there. The weather in early April can still be very cold, so please be prepared with warm clothes and sleeping bags, as well as daily provisions for yourself. Of course, we encourage you to bring any goodies you think the hikers might appreciate. To reserve your spot, please sign up via the link below.  Blue Blaze Brewing is not charging anything for the event.

If you are unable to attend our Trail Magic weekend, but still want to show your support to the hikers, there are plenty of ways you can lend a hand! We will be going up with cars full of provisions and we are open to your contributions! For ideas on what you can donate, or what we still need, please email hnisbett@blueblazebrewing.com. You can also make a monetary contribution on our Go Fund Me page (https://www.gofundme.com/blue-blaze-trail-magic-weekend?teamInvite=x9PlBwKMAafHcJwJMvTIEJN3mI2x1MhzYltFA0ZFl8LJjqZwc5JqgmPTHcTst1ls). All donations will go completely towards to hiker trail magic supplies for this Trail Magic weekend, and any leftover funds will be donated to the Appalachian Trail Conservancy (http://www.appalachiantrail.org)
